ART!

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 5, 2013, 7:34 PM

Art's gonna speed up a bit now that I got a groove on between banging out 3d stuff for Nexus 2 and drawing commission junk.  I hope you like 3d stuff and art! :D

Deck of playing cards that I was commissioned to draw.  I dare say they turned out pretty awesome. Consider chipping in.

Darkness?

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 3, 2013, 11:13 PM

Hey guys.  I recently purchased some of my art as prints and they were all very nearly pitch black.  Is my computer screen too bright and I've been doing it ultra dark to compensate?  I ratchet down the brightness a bit and it starts to look like the prints I got so this is a pretty solid hypothesis but I thought I'd run it by you guys too.  Do I need to brighten up my stuff a bit or did the people I buy these from screw it up?

2013

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 8, 2013, 8:15 AM

Laura bought me premium, and I'm going to get some use out of it, damnit!   This is a nice skin. :3

Thanks, watchers, for watching me grind my way through art to try and become a better artist. Here's hoping that by the end of 2013 that I would have had a bit more of the 'bad' purged from my artwork.  Starting to explore edge-lighting and soft shading as I continue to grind anatomy practice.

I plan on posting more of my practice work here for crit, so if you've got an eye for what I might be mis-stepping please let me know when you see it.

But enough about me: How are you guys doin?

I am going to be at the New Orleans Comic Con 2012 on Nov 30th, Dec 1st and 2nd selling prints.  Some stuff you've seen before, some stuff you haven't seen before.  Namely I finished the background I did for madness day 2012 and cleaned up the Sanford - For Deimos print (which can be seen here: www.etsy.com/listing/115496585… if you're interested in preordering, will be available to ship after the NOLA con), along with some other goodies.

Always a tense thing to put art on the line, here's to hoping it'll be a fun time. It's NOLA though, worst case scenario I get to eat a po boy and absorb some of that wonderful New Orleanean culture.

So yeah, if you're in the area stop by!
:D

Thanks for keeping up with my non-animated shenanigans.

Also: Next incident is going to be the bloodiest thing I ever made, though.  I need to wring out some gore before I get to work on mc11.  I won't lie, it intimidates me and I need to just spill about 60 gallons of blood before getting to it.
Over the last few months I've made a real effort in improving my 'art'.  A lot of this has been grinding figure studies, constantly.  I'm really hoping to improve at my ability to express form and shape through the linework/shading that I do, but I feel like I'm falling well short of this goal.

My current direction is to just keep grinding static/action figure poses with two tone shading to express shape, but any tips/guides/practice studies that can be recommended to me would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to feel like I'm getting 'stuck' here with where I am.
Comic con was awesome, and so were the rest of my adventures.  Met cool new people, saw awesome old friends, and ate tons of fatty foods.  Three weeks away from my precious computer and tablet, though.  Way too long.  So glad to be back.

Also I've gotten a bunch of chicken scratch down in my sketchpad that tells me I'm starting to animate Madness Combat 11.  It'll be a slow and arduous process though, Project Nexus is overdue for an update.

How've you all been?
Tomorrow morning I depart via car to San Diego to nerd it up for a whole weekend.  After that I'll be stopping in Colorado for a bit before headed back home.

Just a heads up, guys, I ain't gonna be around for a few weeks.

Wow, doesn't feel like I've been here for a whole year.  Cool place, great people.  I've been learning a lot.  Thanks everyone who's helped me make my 'art' suck less.  Much appreciated.
